Elements of the Mexican Army successfully secured a major arsenal including high-power firearms, Barrett rifles, and heavy machine guns during an intelligence-led operation in the municipality of Rosario, Sinaloa.

In a coordinated operation aimed at curbing illegal armed groups, elements of the Mexican Army secured a substantial arsenal composed of 59 high-powered firearms in the municipality of Rosario, located in the southern region of the state of Sinaloa, Mexico.

The tactical intervention took place during the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 2026, following specialized ground reconnaissance patrols and enhanced intelligence tracking carried out by military forces in the area.

During the sweep through the municipal seat's outskirts, military personnel confiscated a significant volume of tactical equipment and munitions:

  • 50 AK-47 assault rifles
  • 7 M-4 assault rifles
  • 1 Barrett .50 caliber precision rifle
  • 1 Browning .50 caliber machine gun
  • Hundreds of magazines of various calibers
  • Thousands of live rounds of ammunition of different calibers

Local authorities and defense analysts emphasized the importance of sustained intelligence operations to dismantle logistical supply chains utilized by criminal organizations operating within the region.

Following the seizure, all confiscated weaponry, ammunition, and tactical gear were transferred and placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry, under the jurisdiction of the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR). Federal prosecutors have initiated the corresponding investigative files and ordered comprehensive ballistic forensics to trace the origins of the armaments.
