Military authorities in the state of Sinaloa carried out the definitive destruction of a substantial arsenal confiscated during various security operations targeting organized crime groups in the region.
The destruction protocol took place at the facilities of the 9th Military Zone in the city of Culiacán, where officers rendered the weapons permanently inoperable through mechanical cutting and compaction processes.
According to figures provided by military authorities during the official ceremony, the destroyed inventory consisted of the following items:
- 639 firearms
- 3,303 firearm magazines
- 153,065 rounds of ammunition of various calibers
During the solemn ceremony, Commander Julio César Islas Sánchez emphasized that these structural actions are part of an official strategy designed to cut off the replenishment lines of criminal organizations and strengthen public safety for local citizens.
With this latest operation, the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA) reported that cumulative destruction efforts in Sinaloa have reached significant figures over the course of the current year, totaling more than 2,500 firearms and 750,000 rounds of ammunition permanently removed from circulation within the state.
Official representatives underscored that the total neutralization of these items represents a direct intervention to reduce violent incidents and progress toward regional stabilization in Culiacán and surrounding municipalities.
