TWO ARRESTED FOLLOWING SECURITY OPERATIONS IN MAZATLAN AND ESCUINAPA; WEAPONS, EXPLOSIVES, AND DRUGS SEIZED

In a series of coordinated security interventions in the state of Sinaloa, Mexican authorities succeeded in apprehending two suspects alongside significant seizures of weaponry, explosives, and illegal narcotics. The joint actions took place across multiple strategic locations within the municipalities of Mazatlán and Escuinapa, highlighting ongoing federal interdiction efforts in northwestern Mexico.

The central government's Gabinete de Seguridad reported the outcomes of three distinct operational actions executed by personnel from the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA), the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana, and the Fiscalía General de la República. While official statements confirmed the success of the interventions, specific details surrounding the tactical deployment remained undisclosed.

The first interdiction occurred during routine security patrols conducted by military units traversing routes in Escuinapa and Mazatlán. Personnel secured two motor vehicles, one of which featured specialized factory armor designed to withstand heavy ballistics. Within these vehicles, troops located three ammunition magazines and a bag containing 38 improvised explosive devices, preventing potential tactical deployments by criminal groups.

A second targeted response took place in the rural community of El Zapote, located within the municipality of Mazatlán. Military operators intercepted a suspect at the location, securing the individual without immediate incident. Search procedures yielded the confiscation of three long-barrel firearms, seven high-capacity magazines, 171 live cartridges, and an additional transport vehicle linked to the suspect.

Furthermore, specialized investigative proceedings were executed along the main Mazatlán–Tepic highway corridor by federal agents from the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana and the Fiscalía General de la República. The investigative action culminated in the arrest of a second individual found in possession of approximately 26 kilograms of methamphetamine, alongside a cellular communication device and personal luggage used to move the illicit shipment.
