The Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de Nuevo León has opened an investigation following the discovery of five deceased individuals, including three minors, in Montemorelos.

Authorities in the state of Nuevo León, Mexico, are investigating a tragic incident in the municipality of Montemorelos after five members of a family were found dead from gunshot wounds. The main line of inquiry conducted by the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de Nuevo León points toward a multiple homicide followed by suicide committed by a 33-year-old woman identified as Cinthya Tamez.

The events were initially reported in the early hours in the Fraccionamiento Los Fresnos, located within the La Carlota sector. Local security elements located a red Jeep vehicle parked with its engine running. Inside the vehicle, officers found the bodies of Cinthya Tamez and her two-year-old son, both presenting gunshot wounds. According to initial official reports, the woman was found with a firearm held in her hand.

Simultaneously, law enforcement personnel inspected a residential property situated approximately 300 meters away in the Los Nogales sector. Inside the residence, authorities discovered three additional deceased individuals: Cinthya's partner, identified as Leodegario Moya, aged 29—also reported in preliminary findings as 51—alongside two other minor children from previous relationships of the woman. All victims sustained firearm injuries.

"The main line of investigation established by state investigators indicates that Cinthya Tamez shot her partner and two minor children inside the home before fleeing with her youngest child, whom she killed inside the vehicle prior to taking her own life," state authorities reported.

Neighbor testimonies gathered at the scene indicated that high-volume music and a loud argument were heard coming from the residence during the night. Furthermore, residents noted seeing the woman leave the property during the morning hours accompanied by her youngest child. Investigators are also reviewing social media activity, including publications on TikTok, as part of the case file to establish the motive behind the events.

Personnel from the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de Nuevo León secured both the residential property and the vehicle to collect forensic evidence and carry out the corresponding legal procedures in order to clarify the facts.
