State authorities in Tamaulipas have confirmed that forensic tests are ongoing following a security operation in Matamoros where a seven-year-old girl lost her life after being struck by gunfire.

Authorities in the state of Tamaulipas are continuing their investigation into a security event that occurred on October 29 in the municipality of Matamoros, which resulted in the death of seven-year-old Aranza Aidelany Pardo and left her mother, Claudia Edith Pardo, wounded.

According to statements provided by Claudia Edith Pardo, the family was traveling in a vehicle near the Las Rusias rural area at kilometer 4.5 of the Matamoros-Reynosa highway. The incident coincided with a heightened security deployment in the area following the detention of Axel Alfredo "N," an alleged member of a local organized crime group. The family's vehicle was followed by an official helicopter, after which gunfire was reported.

The Attorney General of Tamaulipas, Jesús Eduardo Govea Orozco, confirmed that forensic evaluations determined the projectile responsible for the child's death had a trajectory moving from top to bottom, penetrating the roof of the vehicle. Ballistic examinations established that the impact corresponded to a 7.62 caliber round. Official findings ruled out criminal groups as the source of the shot, identifying the aircraft in the immediate airspace as belonging to official state security agencies.

Institutional Response and Ongoing Inquiry

The official investigation confirmed that four active officers belonging to the Secretariat of Public Security were inside the Guardia Estatal helicopter at the time of the maneuvers. Specialist ballistic analysis remains underway to identify the specific firearm used and assign individual responsibility.

As of November 5, the Fiscalía General de Justicia de Tamaulipas reported that no officers have been placed under arrest in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, the Secretariat of Public Security has initiated an internal inquiry through its Internal Affairs division to evaluate adherence to operational protocols.

Family members and community residents have publicly requested a complete and transparent resolution to the case, asking authorities to clarify the facts and ensure accountability as the legal procedure advances.
